A Guest's Pick: The Edge Seafood Restaurant on the Destin Harbor
DINING · Roger Ridpath
A guest who stayed a week at Majestic Sun left us one restaurant tip: The Edge, for great seafood and views. Here's where it is, what to order, and whether you need a reservation.
The best restaurant tips we get don't come from a list. They come from guests. Kathy stayed with us for about a week in September, and at the end of a very kind review she added one line that I wrote down: "We suggest the Edge restaurant for great seafood and views!"
So this one is Kathy's pick, not mine. I haven't sat down there myself yet, which means what follows is her recommendation plus what the restaurant says about itself, checked against its own menu. If you're staying at Majestic Sun and want a seafood dinner with some water in front of you, here's the practical version.
Where is The Edge, and how far is it from Majestic Sun?
The Edge Seafood Restaurant & Skybar is at 302 Harbor Blvd in Destin, right on the Destin Harbor Boardwalk. From the condo it's about 8 miles west. Figure 20 to 30 minutes, and the difference is Highway 98, which has its own opinions in the summer. Go a little early and the drive is easy.
What kind of place is The Edge?
Two stories, and they are two different evenings. The main level is covered, open-air and family-friendly, and it takes reservations for lunch and dinner. Upstairs is the Skybar, an adults-only rooftop bar where seating is first come, first served, with couches and cocktail service. Both levels get the full menu and the same view: the working side of the Destin harbor, with fishing boats unloading the day's catch and the dolphin-tour boats heading out.
It opened in 2022 and has collected a stack of local awards since, Best Waterfront Dining and Best Oysters in Destin among them. That second one tells you where to start.
What should you order at The Edge?
Start at the raw bar. A dozen oysters on the half shell runs $22, and there's a whole section of baked oysters if raw isn't your thing. After that the menu reads like the Gulf: a fried grouper basket with hand-cut fries ($27), blackened Gulf Coast snapper with mango pico and coconut rice ($34), a whole fried yellowtail snapper ($42), and a seafood boil with snow crab, jumbo shrimp and mussels. The house-smoked mahi dip and the lobster spring rolls are the starters people seem to order for the table.
Those prices are from their menu in September 2026. Menus move, so look before you go.
When is the best time to go?
They're open daily for lunch and dinner, with brunch on Saturday and Sunday from 11am to 2pm (bottomless mimosas are $15, which I mention for planning purposes only). The Skybar runs a weekday happy hour from 2 to 5pm, and there's live music seven nights a week, plus daytime shows Friday through Sunday. If the view is the point, and Kathy says it is, get there before the light goes.
Do you need a reservation at The Edge?
For the main level, I would. They take them for lunch and dinner through their website, and a harbor-front table on a weekend in season is not something I'd leave to luck. The Skybar doesn't take reservations at all, so for the rooftop you just go and see.
If you try it, tell us how it was. That's how this one got here. The rest of our picks, walking distance and otherwise, are in the Local's Guide.
